Scenic Overlook in the mountains of West Virginia off of Rte 19. |
"I really hope you don't put this one on the website!" |
"I'm on top of the world!" |
A native West Virginian |
87o right now... The temperature got up to 90o a little bit later. That's pretty hot for October up north. |
The nasty hotel in Cranberry Twp, PA was still nicer than most of the college dorm rooms. |
Heading up to Grove City early Saturday morning. |
Almost there... Hey! It isn't exit 31 anymore! |
Made it! |
The new Hall of Arts and Letters building is where we register when we arrive. |
Alumni still looks the same from over here. |
...but on the far side, the IM Room is now twice as big as before, and all the AstroTurf is gone. |
This looks about the same. |
The student mailboxes are no longer down this hall in Alumni, they're over in the new Breen Student Union. |
Exercise equipment takes the place of the old college bookstore, now also over in the new Breen Student Union. |
The backside of Rockwell. |
The Quad, from the front steps of Rockwell. We weren't even allowed to walk on the Quad in 1987! |
WSAJ-FM broadcasts live across the Quad in front of Ketler. |
All of the buildings have these new signs in front of them now. |
That's my freshman year window in Ketler, 1983 - 1984. |
Ketler Rec - where thousands of Ping Pong games were played... but none today. The tables are folded up in the back for the events of the day. |
The old laundry room in Ketler... updated with new equipment. |
Stairway from Ketler Mid-floor. The dorms are like mazes. |
Lauren stands in front of my freshman dorm room in Ketler on Mid-floor. It was a single when I had it, but now it's double. |
Mid-floor in Ketler. Steve's room on the right is now joined with my old room apparently. His door doesn't open. |
Harbison Chapel, where Chris and I were married in 1990. |
Front of Rockwell tower, from the middle of the Quad. |
Walking into town from campus on Pine St. with Andrea, Hailey, and Lauren. |
It all looks about the same down here. |
Crossing over Wolf Creek near town. |
People line up to use the old MAC Machine. |
We're looking up Broad St. from just beyond where Anthony's used to be. |
People start gathering on E. Pine St. for the parade. |
We got a shady spot across from the Post Office up on some church steps. It's already starting to get really warm. |
The parade finally gets started down E. Pine St. |
The Grove City College Marching Band starts in. |
The parade route was different than in years past. It caught a lot of people by surprise, but we were fine where we were. |
The parade came up Broad St. instead of turning right onto it. |
The Okie float. |
The Grove City College Marching Band moves up Broad St. to our left. |
The class of '87 marches in the parade. There's Ralph Batykeefer on the right in the shades, from Mid-floor and AEX. |
The Sig-Thet & Adel float. |
A high school marching band comes through. They sounded really good to me. I can't remember where they were from. |
We moved over to Broad St. after the end of the parade passed E. Pine St.. This is the ABT & Beta-Sig float. |
Upclose to the high school marching band. |
I always love the drums... |
"It's so loud... but it doesn't hurt!" is how I describe the sound and feel of real drums. |
We walk back up to campus after the parade. This is MAP - West where often ate on campus, except weekends. |
Andrea's crew lived up there on the 2nd floor for several years. |
Lincoln 111 - where I lived my sophomore year, with Mark Garratt in AEX. |
The old AEX sign hangs off of Lincoln. |
Another shot of Lincoln. |
This was my window my senoir year in Lincoln 116A. (See the video.) |
...and my other, less popular, window. |
The view from my more popular window in Lincoln 116A. |
They still don't get any respect here. |
4th section, Lincoln. I don't think we had a water fountain out there back in 1987. |
It's really hot now, and we're walking down to the old McD's in town for lunch. This is the back side of Ketler. |
Rainbow Bridge shot all the way from Main St. on our walk to McD's. |
A new dorm down past the football field. |
I missed the 1987 20th class photo on the steps of Rockwell, so Lauren took my picture there later after lunch. |
It's even hotter now and I'm starting to get sunburned, so we head into Rockwell looking for a break from the heat. We didn't find it. |
The new Breen Student Union has probably got A/C. BTW, it is only at this point in the day that I realize that Calderwood is gone. Most of my math classes were in Calderwood. |
We take a break in the circle in the shade by the big rock. Lauren is hot and maybe getting a bit grumpy. |
Box #789 - Not the same one, not even in the same building, but that was my old box #. |
On the roof of the Computer Center. It was built after my first year here and is now completely different inside, as you would imagine. |
One last shot over the upper campus fields as we walk back to the car and head back to the hotel. |
We're going to go find Chris' old house now. This was her exit off of I-79. |
A shot of Soergel Orchards on the way to Chris' house. |
Chris' old house has changed alot. |
More new stuff on the back side, too. |
My old house from high school in Upper St. Clair looks like new. |
...New driveway, bricks, door, shutters, and windows. Seems like all the houses in the neighborhood have been fixed up. |
We visit Hays Park in our old neighborhood. New playground equipment, but still pretty much the same. |
When we'd play ball, this was the view from home plate. In the tennis court was a home run. |
Found Boyce Middle School, where I went in 8th grade when we moved to PA. Looks pretty much the same. The fading sunlight only let us get the side. |
We also found our old church, which was St. Clair Bible Chapel at the time. Now it is New Day Assembly of God. Pastor Jeff Marshall just happened to be there and was walking out as we pulled up. He took us in and gave us a tour. |
Looks like they use real drums. How nice that they accomodate the music ministry and musicians that play authentic instruments. |
Built right into the left side of the platform is a plexiglass enclosed room, where the drums are mic'd. That's a serious set. |
This is where we had Youth Group every Tuesday night. |
We make it home on Sunday, and on Monday the kids take turns locking each other in the trunk of the rental car and testing the emergency trunk release. |
Now it's Lauren's turn. |
"Got her!" |
